Buckeye Fans Truly Are One in a Million – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s deep and faithful fan base has helped Facebook.com/Buckeyes become the first official collegiate page to reach one million likes.
Facebook.com/Buckeyes, which currently ranks No. 1 among all collegiate Facebook fan pages at roughly 1,002,000 “likes” as of Aug. 4, has experienced a consistent and increasing number of followers since its reintroduction November 2008.
“To be honest, it comes as no surprise,” Pat Kindig, a lead administrator for Facebook.com/Buckeyes, said. “Ohio State’s following does not waver. Reaching one million on Facebook is just another example of the strength and dedication of the Buckeye fan base. The Best Fans in the Land? No doubt.”
Nothing could be further from the truth within the social media circles as Ohio State’s main Facebook page has seen an average of roughly 50,000 additional likes per month since this time last year.

According to a poll posted on SoonerSports.com, Ohio State continues to hold the No. 1 Facebook following among official collegiate pages. With 1,002,000 page “likes” Facebook.com/Buckeyes boasts a significant lead over Nos. 2-5: Texas (645,791), Florida (625,108), Kentucky (484,845) and Wisconsin (319,267) in the unofficial rankings as of Aug. 4.

As a reward to the Best Fans in the Land, Facebook.com/Buckeyes is running the Brutus Wants You: Celebrating One Million “Likes” promotion through August. Buckeye fans that follow the official Ohio State athletics Facebook page will have the opportunity to enter weekly prize drawings as the 2011 football season nears. Fans can enter the contest by simply signing up for the Buckeye Update Enewsletters.
Fans can enter to win T-shirts, hats and also have a chance to win the grand prize of two tickets to the 2011 season opener vs. Akron by:
