COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two Ohio State football players were named to the College Football Performance Awards watch lists Monday.
Junior running back and return specialist Jordan Hall was selected to the kickoff return man watch list – the only player in the Big Ten on the 37-man list. Meanwhile, junior Jake Stoneburner was named to the tight end watch list with 38 other players in Division I.
Hall had a breakout season in 2010 as a return man, bringing back kickoffs and punts. He returned 18 kicks for 503 yards, including an 85-yard return for a touchdown against Michigan. Hall also returned 24 punts for 238 yards, which included a 70-yarder at Minnesota. The Jeannette, Pa., native will be in the mix this fall at running back as he carried 37 times for 161 yards and two TDs while catching eight passes for 83 yards and score last season.
Stoneburner, a returning starter at tight end, hauled in 21 passes for 222 yards and two scores in 2010. His best game came against Ohio when he caught five passes for 61 yards, including one for a TD. He also caught a TD in the win over Penn State and had three catches for 39 yards in the Sugar Bowl win against Arkansas.
Ohio State opens the 2011 season Sept. 3 against Akron at Ohio Stadium.
