CHICAGO – Seven Ohio State Buckeyes who were seniors in 2010 have agreed to terms with NFL teams, according to published reports, and will join five more of their classmates in team training camps that open, in some cases, as soon as Wednesday.
Buckeyes agreeing to terms yesterday, the first day that NFL teams could negotiate such deals with players, were OL Justin Boren (Baltimore Ravens), OL Bryant Browning and LS Jake McQuaide (St. Louis Rams), DL Dexter Larimore (New Orleans Saints), RB Brandon Saine (Green Bay Packers), WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Chicago Bears) and CB Devon Torrence (Minnesota Vikings).
These seven increase Ohio State’s total of rookies this year in the National Football League to 12…so far, because others could still sign free agent deals. The 12 includes the five players who were drafted in the NFL draft earlier this spring: DL and first-round pick Cameron Heyward (Pittsburgh Steelers), CB and fourth-round pick Chimdi Chekwa (Oakland Raiders), DB and fifth-round pick Jermale Hines (St. Louis Rams), and a pair of sixth-round selections who play linebacker: Ross Homan (Minnesota Vikings) and Brian Rolle (Philadelphia Eagles).
Rookie Buckeyes first day of NFL training camp:
Today – Baltimore Ravens (Boren), Oakland Raiders (Chekwa), Philadelphia Eagles (Rolle)
Thursday – Pittsburgh Steelers (Heyward), New Orleans Saints (Larimore)
Friday – Chicago Bears (Sanzenbacher), Green Bay Packers (Saine), St. Louis Rams (Hines, Browning and McQuaide)
Sunday – Minnesota Vikings (Homan and Torrence)
