Big Ten Baseball Title and Tournament Bids on the Line
With less than one week remaining in the regular baseball season, the conference title and all six spots in the Big Ten Tournament are up for grabs. The Big Ten Network will televise three baseball games this weekend, featuring two of the top three teams in the current Big Ten standings.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers (12-9 Big Ten) remain one game back from current leader Michigan State (13-8), and will look to improve their standing when they welcome Ohio State (11-10) to Minneapolis on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM ET at Target Field, home to the Minnesota Twins.
Two teams will continue to vie for spots in the Big Ten Baseball Tournament, scheduled for May 25-28, when Northwestern (9-11) hosts the Spartans at 1 PM ET on Saturday. Immediately following the early game, Penn State (10-11) seeks a tournament bid when it wraps up its series at Michigan (6-14) at 4 PM ET.
The network’s studio team of Mike Hall and Rick Pizzo join Cal Eldred and Tammy Williams to recap the regular season and preview upcoming Big Ten Tournament games on Big Ten Diamond Report at 7 PM ET.
Viewers are invited to submit their Big Ten baseball and softball questions for the team of analysts to answer during each episode.

‘Football Report’ to Reveal Network’s 2011 Primetime Football Schedule
A special edition of the Big Ten Football Report at 8 PM ET tonight will reveal the Big Ten Network’s 2011 primetime football schedule and also feature interviews with Michigan’s Lloyd Carr and Ohio State’s Eddie George following their inclusion in the College Football Hall of Fame.
Carr and George are two of the four individuals with Big Ten ties named earlier this week to the 2011 College Football Hall of Fame class, along with Michigan State’s Gene Washington and Minnesota’s Sandy Stephens. Nebraska’s Will Shields was also among those selected.
Dave Revsine will host the program and will be joined by Gerry DiNardo and Howard Griffith. The three will discuss the network’s primetime football matchups and their significance as plans for the 2011 football season are underway.
The show will be preceded at 6 PM ET by the 2006 thriller between No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 2 Michigan. Immediately after Big Ten Football Report, at 8:30 PM ET, the network will air Michigan’s 2008 Capital One Bowl victory against Florida, Carr’s final game as head coach of the Wolverines.
Championship Coverage Continues as Perennial Powers Claim Big Ten Titles
The Big Ten Network will offer delayed coverage of two spring championships on Sunday, beginning with the Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships at 11 AM ET followed by the Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships later in the afternoon at 5 PM ET.
Illinois compiled a 7-under 281 team score to clinch its third-straight and 10th overall conference title at the Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships, hosted by Purdue University at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. Junior Luke Guthrie became the first Illini to win individual medalist honors since 1999, firing a 2-under 70 in the final round.
At 5 PM ET, the network will provide coverage of the Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships from at the Francis Cretzmeyer Track at the University of Iowa. The Hawkeyes earned their first men’s outdoor conference championship since 1967, finishing with 125.50 points to edge second-place Minnesota with 123 points. On the women’s side, Ohio State earned its first-ever outdoor team championship, after the Buckeyes finished with 135 points, followed by Penn State (122) and Indiana (96).
The network is the home for complete coverage of spring championships in May, televising events in the sports of baseball, men’s and women’s golf, rowing, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field. Each of these events will be produced in high definition.
