Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2011 NCAA Tournament when the field was announced Monday afternoon.
The Buckeyes (10-8-2) will travel to fourth-seeded Tennessee (15-6) for an opening round NCAA match on Saturday, November 12, at 2 p.m. The winner will face the winner of the Illinois State-Milwaukee match.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of the NCAA tournament field for another season, and we’re really excited about the bracket we’re in,” said Ohio State head coach Lori Walker. “This is a great opportunity for our team.”
Ticket prices will be $7 for adults, $3 for UT and Ohio State students (must show your valid student ID at the ticket office during normal business hours or on game day) and $1 for children aged five and under. The Tennessee ticket office is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm, can be reached by phone at 1-800-332-VOLS (8657) or fans can order online 24 hours a day/seven days a week at UTTix.com.
Tennessee is ranked No. 23 this week after advancing to the SEC tournament semifinals. Ohio State tied Illinois 1-1 in an opening round match at the Big Ten Tournament last Wednesday, but lost to the Illini, the eventual tournament champions, 4-2 in penalty kicks. In 19 seasons of women’s soccer, this marks the seventh time overall and fourth time in the past five seasons the Buckeyes have reached NCAAs. Ohio State is 7-6-1 all-time in NCAA play, all under the direction of Walker, and advanced to last season’s College Cup.
