OHIO STATE POSTGAME NOTES
ZachBoren, Tyler Moeller, Mike Adams and Andrew Sweat served as game captains.
A live satellite feed of Ohio State fans watching the game whileserving in Afghanistan was shown on the video board athalftime.
Ohio State is 15-1 in November games since the start of the 2005season and is 288-132-19 all-time in November.
SERIES NOTES
Ohio State leads the all-time series with Indiana, 67-12-5,including 16 straight since 1988.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
Three Buckeyes had 100-yard games, led by Dan “Boom” Herronwith 141. Both Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde set career highs with 105 yards rushing each.
The game marked the first time Ohio State had three 100-yardrushers since Nov. 4, 1989 at Northwestern (Dante Lee 157, ScottieGraham 102, Carlos Snow 100). It was the fourth game for Ohio Statewith three 100-yard rushers. The first was in 1956 against Indiana(Galen Cisco 160, James Roseboro 157, Donald Clark 112) and thesecond was in 1970 vs. Duke (Leophus Hayden 1965, John Brockington117, Rex Kern 113).
Braxton Miller’s 81-yard touchdown run in the first quarter wasthe longest play from scrimmage for the Buckeyes this year andlongest run of Miller’s career.
The run was the longest by an Ohio State quarterback and thesixth-longest rush in school history. The previous long by aquarterback was a 76-yard run by Rex Kern in 1970.
Miller’s two rushing touchdowns tied a career high first set lastweek vs. Wisconsin.
Zach Boren’s 25-yard reception in the first quarter was thelongest of his career.
Dan “Boom” Herron’s 141-yard rushing game marked the sixth 100-plusyard performance of his career. He crossed the 2,500-yard rushingmark and now has 2,609 as a Buckeye. He is the 13th Buckeye with atleast 2,500 yards.
Ohio State is 21-1 in Herron’s career when he rushes for at least55 yards.
Ohio State is 22-3 in 25 games in which Herron has scored a rushingtouchdown.
The game marked the sixth time this season Ohio State rushed for atleast 200 yards.
Ohio State rushed for a season-high 346 yards as a team, the mostsince rushing for 314 vs. Penn State Nov. 13, 2010.
Since the Buckeyes were held to 35 yards rushing against MichiganState, the team has averaged 267 yards per game in the last fouroutings. The squad has rushed for 10 touchdowns in the span.
The last time Ohio State rushed for four touchdowns in a game wasagainst Eastern Michigan Sept. 25, 2010.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
Senior linebacker Andrew Sweat added to his team-leading tackle total with ninevs. the Hoosiers. He now has 66 this year. Sweat has now had atleast six tackles in seven games this season.
Junior defensive end John Simon led the team with a career-high 10 tackles againstIndiana. He now has 39 stops this season.
Simon claimed his team-high sixth sack of the season in the firsthalf on an eight-yard tackle for loss on Hoosier freshmanquarterback Tre Roberson.
Simon has claimed at least two tackles-for-loss in the last fourgames for the Buckeyes after posting three against IndianaSaturday. He leads the team with 12.5 total tackles for loss.
Junior nose tackle Garrett Goebel posted a career-high seven tackles against theHoosiers. He also had a pass breakup.
Nineteen players recorded tackles against the Cream andCrimson.
Christian Bryant posted seven tackles and now has had six gameswith at least five takedowns.
Travis Howard had his fourth career interception in the fourthquarter.
The Buckeye defense held Indiana to 159 rushing yards. The Hoosierscame into the game with a three-game streak with at least 200rushing yards.
Ohio State held Indiana to two three-and-outs.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
With his two field goals, Drew Basil has connected on 12-consecutive field goalattempts.
Devin Smith returned his first four career punts, going for 86yards on four attempts.
INDIANA PLAYER NOTES
Kofi Hughes recorded career-highs with eight receptions, 147receiving yards and 156 all-purpose yards. The sophomore wideoutpulled in a 34-yard touchdown reception, carried the ball fourtimes for nine yards, including three rushes out of the Wildcatformation.
Hughes’ 147 receiving yards are the most for a Hoosier widereceiver this season and the most for a Hoosier since Tandon Dosscovered 221 yards on 15 receptions vs. Michigan last season (Oct.2, 2010).
True freshman quarterback Tre Roberson accounted for 244 yards oftotal offense. He completed 11-of-21 passes for 174 yards and added70 yards rushing on 20 carries. The Indianapolis native alsoconnected on a touchdown pass for the third straight week, hittingHughes in stride for a 34-yard scoring strike to even the score at20-20 in the third quarter.
Stephen Houston gave the Hoosiers a 10-0 lead with a 5-yardtouchdown run following an Ohio State fumble. The sophomore crossedthe goal line for the seventh time this season and the fifth timein the last three games. He finished the game with 56 yards rushingon a career-high 20 carries.
Houston took the direct snap out of the Wildcat, his second scoreout of the formation this year.
True freshman defensive end Bobby Richardson recorded his secondsack of the season and forced his first career fumble to set upHouston’s TD. Fifth-year senior linebacker Jeff Thomas made hisfirst career recovery.
Richardson added his second sack of the game in the second quarterto push his season total to three.
Mitch Ewald opened the scoring with a 35-yard field goal, added a25-yarder and finished the game 2-of-3. The sophomore is now11-of-14 (78.6 percent) on the season, 7-of-8 in Big Ten play (77.8percent) and 27-of-33 (81.8) in his career.
Redshirt freshman linebacker Chase Hoobler collected the first twosacks of his career and a total of three tackles for loss on theday. He totaled a career-high nine tackles, second-best on theteam.
Junior defensive tackle Larry Black, Jr., netted the team’s fourthsack of the afternoon in the third quarter. He now has 1.5 thisyear and four in his career.
Junior safety Alexander Webb carded his first career interceptionat the 12:59 mark in the third quarter. Webb paced the Hoosierswith 11 tackles, seven of the solo variety.
Junior defensive tackles Nicholas Sliger forced a fumble later inthe third quarter, the first of his career.
Fifth-year senior linebacker Leon Beckum made his first sack of theseason and the fourth of his career.
Junior defensive tackle Larry Black, Jr., and sophomore tight endTed Bolser, both Ohio natives, served as captains for the firsttime this season. They were joined by junior defensive tackle andCenterville, Ohio, product Adam Replogle (ninth time) andfifth-year tight end Max Dedmond (second).
True freshman Nick Stoner posted 43 yards on a pair of kickoffreturns, the first two kickoff returns of his career.
True freshman Kenny Mullen also received kicks, totaling 49 yardson three returns. It marks a career-high for kickoff return yardsin a game.
INDIANA TEAM NOTES
Indiana posted a season-high six sacks in the ballgame, itsthird multi-sack game this year. The Hoosiers previous best thisseason was four at Iowa on Oct. 22.
The six sacks are the most for an Indiana team since it recordedseven against Central Michigan on Nov. 1, 2008. It also marks themost in a Big Ten contest since the Hoosiers sacked Iowa nine timesin 2007.
Indiana has scored on its opening drive the last three weeks andsix times overall in 2011.
The Hoosiers used 10-plus plays on two scoring drives, pushingtheir season total to 16.
Indiana started nine freshmen (5 true), including five on defense(3 true) and four on offense (3 true).
