Ohio State in First with 18 Holes Left at the Lady Northern Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Previewing its Big Ten course and competition at the Lady Northern Invitational, the Ohio State women’s golf team currently leads the 12-team field on the par 71, 6,037-yard Donald Ross Golf Course in French Lick, Ind.
Firing scores of 293-290 during day one to total 583, the Buckeyes hold an eight-stroke advantage over second-place Michigan.
Leading the Buckeyes and the field is freshman Kendall Prince. The rookie from Lake Oswego, Ore., sits in first by a five-stroke margin after rounds of 73-67 to total 140 (-2). Carding three birdies in round one, Prince continued to improve in the afternoon by adding five more birdies. Her only slip in the second round came in the form of a bogey on the par-3 No .13.
Also in the Top 5 is junior Susana Benavides who is tied for third at 146 after scores of 74-72. Throughout the day, the Cochabamba, Bolivia, native carded six birdies.
Notching two birdies in each of her rounds, junior Rachel Rohanna is tied for 14th. The Waynesburg, Pa., product fired rounds of 73-76 for a sum of 149.
One stroke back from Rohanna after scores of 73-77 is senior Vicky Villanueva who is tied for 21st at 150. Rounding out the Buckeye lineup is junior Amy Meier who is tried for 24th at 151. Meier opened with a 76 and improved by a stroke in the afternoon with a round of 75.
Competing as an individual, freshman Jan Chanpalangsri is tied for 28th at 153 after rounds of 78-75.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will continue tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
