Chekwa Named Big Ten Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior cornerback Chimdi Chekwa was named Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting a pair of passed in the No. 2 Buckeyes’ 36-24 victory over Miami last Saturday.
Chekwa, a native of Clermont, Fla. and East Ridge High School, also broke up a pair of passes while adding six tackles, including one for loss. Both interceptions came in the final seven minutes of the first half and helped give the Buckeyes a 26-17 halftime lead.
The honor was the second-consecutive Defensive Player of the Week award for Ohio State after Tyler Moeller earned it last week.
