Courtney Jenkins Earns Elite 88 Award at College Cup – Ohio State Buckeyes

RALEIGH, N.C. – Ohio State women’s soccer midfielder Courtney Jenkins was honored with the 2010 Elite 88 Award at the NCAA College Cup banquet Thursday evening at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh. The award is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s 88 championships as the Buckeyes are in the College Cup this weekend with Notre Dame, Boston College and Stanford.
“It is such an honor to represent Ohio State with the highest grade-point average at this College Cup,” Jenkins said. “With four great institutions here, it’s a great accomplishment but hopefully we can continue this on the field this weekend.”
A senior from Dublin, Ohio, Jenkins has played in 83 games, starting 79, while recording a cumulative grade-point average of 3.968. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete, Jenkins was named third-team Academic All-District in 2008. Jenkins also was named NSCAA Scholar All-East Region honorable mention in 2009 and has seven goals and six assists in her career.
The Buckeyes take on Notre Dame in the NCAA semifinals at 4 p.m. Friday in Cary. The match will be televised live on ESPN2 and ESPNU.
