1958 Ohio State Rose Bowl Game to be Highlighted at 2011 Rose Parade – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 1958 Oregon-Ohio State Rose Bowl game will be one of 19 Rose Bowl Stadium historic events highlighted on the Rose Bowl Legacy float in the Jan. 1, 2011 Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif.
The 55-foot long Rose Bowl Legacy float, sponsored by Western Asset, highlights the Rose Parade, presenting a flower-decorated reproduction of the world famous stadium surrounded by “floragraph” images of Rose Bowl history and noted events.
Already proclaimed national champions, the Buckeyes defeated the Ducks, 10-7, Jan. 1, 1958, for their third Rose Bowl victory in program history. The game came down to Don Sutherin’s 24-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, which claimed Ohio State the victory.
Other historic moments commemorated on the float include: 1925 – Stanford vs. Notre Dame; 1939 – Duke vs. USC in 25th Rose Bowl Game; 1948 – Michigan vs. USC; 1963 – Wisconsin vs. USC; 1964 – Illinois vs. Washington in 50th Rose Bowl Game; 1966 – UCLA vs. No. 1 Michigan State; 1977 – Minnesota Vikings vs. Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XI; 1980 – Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl XIV; 1983 – first Army vs. Navy game in California; 1986 – Iowa vs. UCLA; 1988 – Nebraska vs. UCLA regular-season game; 1993 – Buffalo Bills vs. Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XXVII; 1994 – Men’s World Cup soccer finals; 1999 – Women’s World Cup soccer finals; 2002 – Nebraska vs. Miami (Fla.) in BCS National Championship game; 2006 – USC vs. UCLA; 2006 – USC vs. Texas in BCS National Championship game; 2010 – U-2 Rose Bowl concert; tribute to Jim Stivers, a long-time Tournament of Roses executive and Rose Bowl volunteer for more than 50 years who died at age 90 in May 2010.
