COLUMBUS, Ohio-A little over a week into preseason practice sessions, Thad Matta’s Buckeyes put their progress on display Wednesday on the main court at Value City Arena. A group of about 200 fans gathered as part of the annual Agonis Club Fundraiser benefiting the men’s basketball program.
Six freshmen join four returning starters from Ohio State’s NCAA Sweet 16 squad from a year ago. Seniors David Lighty, a preseason candidate for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, Jon Diebler and Dallas Lauderdale along with junior William Buford led the team through drills and a scrimmage before signing autographs for those in attendance.
The Buckeyes have a little more than two weeks remaining before taking the court for an exhibition game Nov. 7 (2 p.m.) at Value City Arena vs. Walsh University.
The home and season-opener is set for 7 p.m. Nov. 12 vs. North Carolina A&T. That game is part of a four-game event in the Global Sports Invitational.
