Buckeyes Host #9 Penn State Wednesday and Play at #22 Northwestern Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (16-5 overall, 4-4 Big Ten, tied for fifth) closes out a three-match home stand this Wednesday at 7 p.m. EST against ninth-ranked Penn State (15-4, 5-3, tied for third). OSU then travels to play an 8 p.m. EST Friday match at 22nd-ranked Northwestern (15-4, 5-3, tied for third). Wednesday’s match will be carried live on the Big Ten Network with Randy Rhinehart calling the play-by-play and former Ohio State All-American Audrey DiPronio Flaugh providing the color commentary. Friday’s match at Northwestern will be available on the web at www.bigtennetwork.com for a fee. – MORE –

No. 17 Ohio State Looks to Extend Seven-Match Win Streak at Home Against No. 13 Illinois
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 17th-ranked Ohio State women’s soccer team hosts 13th-ranked Illinois at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Buckeyes Go Pink night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. President Gee will be on hand to join the Buckeyes in the fight against breast cancer. – MORE –

Queralt, Sciulli Earn Big Ten Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Honors
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Berta Queralt and junior Jenn Sciulli of the sixth-ranked Ohio State field hockey team were named Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, the conference announced Monday. The pair helped lead the Buckeyes (11-3, 3-1 Big Ten) to conference victories against No. 7 Michigan State, 5-1, Oct. 15 and No. 11 Penn State, 3-0, Oct. 17 in Columbus. – MORE –

Follow Brandon Wynn at the World Championships
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Brandon Wynn, a senior on the Ohio State men’s gymnastics team, begins competition with the United States National Team at 8 p.m. (2 p.m. ET) Monday at the 2010 World Artistic Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Wynn is one of six members on the U.S. men’s lineup to start competition in the first of the two men’s qualifications days (Oct. 18/19).- MORE –
