Television set for Coaches vs. Cancer Event – Ohio State Buckeyes

The television coverage for the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer men’s college basketball tournament has been announced.
Syracuse, North Carolina, Ohio State and Cal will serve as the four Regional Round hosts for the event. The tournament will begin with Regional Round action, November 9-12, with the four host schools automatically advancing to the Championship Rounds at Madison Square Garden on November 19th and 20th. The Albany and Miami Subregional Rounds will be held on November 20-23.
A total of 10 games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks. ESPN2 will televise both Championship Round doubleheaders on November 19th and 20th. ESPNU will televise all six games from the Syracuse, Chapel Hill and Berkeley Regional Rounds.

Syracuse heads back to Madison Square Garden for the first time since losing to Louisville in the Big East Championship game.

Ohio State returns all five starters to a team that went 22-11 last season and is expected to be at the top of the Big Ten.
Cal returns four starters to a team that produced 22 wins last season and is predicted to contend for a Pac-10 Championship.
Albany returns leading scorers Tim Ambrose (14.3 ppg) and Will Harris (12.9 ppg).
Alcorn State returns junior guard Troy Jackson, who led the SWAC in scoring (20 ppg).
Detroit returns head coach Ray McCallum for his second year at the helm.
FIU welcomes new head coach Isiah Thomas.
James Madison will look to build upon a successful 21-win campaign a season ago.
Murray State will look to build upon last year’s third place finish in the OVC.
North Carolina Central enters their third season as a Division I program.
Robert Morris won the Northeast Conference title with an overall record of 24-11.

Last year, Duke defeated Michigan in the Championship Game, 71-56. Since 2002, three NCAA Tournament Champions have begun their seasons in the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer, including Maryland (2001-02), Syracuse (2003-04) and Florida (2004-05).
The Coaches vs. Cancer program, a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), exists to leverage the strength, community leadership and celebrity status of the nation’s basketball coaches, to raise awareness and reduce cancer risk through education programs while raising funds for the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Since 1996, the event has raised more than $4.5 million for the benefit of Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society.
