Q: What do you miss most about your hometown?
A: My dog and my family!
Q: Besides you, who is the most famous person from your hometown:?
A: Derek Jeter grew up in Kalamazoo and went to my high school….so definitely DJ.
Q: How often do you get home?
A: Whenever I get a free weekend and feel like driving 5 hours, so not that often!
Q: What do people ask you most about your hometown?
A: “Where is that?” or “Is that really a place?”
Q: What’s the biggest difference between your hometown and Columbus?
A: The size, I can mainly tell because of the variety of things and stuff to do, like downtown and the malls.
Q: How would you describe your hometown?
A: Kalamazoo is a smaller city, consists of more suburb than actual city….my house is a mile down a road of corn fields and then out of no where pops out this subdivision. That’s kind of a bad impression of Kalamazoo but that’s where I live. Kalamazoo gets a lot of its business from Western Michigan University which is right outside of downtown so I guess you could kind of call it a college town too.
Q: How many stoplights are in your hometown?
A: Too many to count, “the zoo” isn’t that small!
Q: What is the population of your hometown?
A: I feel like this is something I should know but I don’t….I’d compare it to a Dayton.
Q: How long has your family lived in your hometown?
A: My mom and dad met in college at WMU where my dad was a football player and mom was a ballerina. After that they stayed in Kalamazoo.
Q: What sport/activity is the most popular in your hometown?
A: We do have a semi-pro baseball team in kzoo, but I’d still have to say football or basketball. My high school usually produces some quality athletes.
Q: What is the tallest building in your hometown?
A: It used to be the Comerica building downtown but now the new Radisson downtown is extra nice, as well as big.
Q: What do visitors to your hometown need to see/do?
A: Go to a Kings game, the air zoo is always fun, if you’re of age I’d recommend Wayside or Monoco Bay.
Q: Is anything interesting made in your hometown?
A: Bells beer is brewed in Kalamazoo and it’s the hometown of Pfizer which is a major drug production company.
Q: What is the biggest attraction in your hometown?
A: I have no idea!
Q: Most prominent industry/line of work?
A: My best guess is Western Michigan and Pfizer.
Q: Is there a local food your hometown is known for?
A: No but Nina’s Café is the best! Maybe Bilbo’s pizza.
Q: How long has your family lived there?
A: I’ve lived there all my life. My dad’s from Cleveland and mom is from Flint.
Q: Any historic event that happened there?
A: Probably not. It used to be a common place for lots of stars and people to stop half way on their trip from Chicago to Detroit.
Q: Your favorite place in your hometown?
A: My house! Or my high school soccer field…great memories!
