Girls Scouts Night and Adopt-A-Player

Sunday September 27, 2009 1:30 p.m. – Jerome Schottenstein Center
Adopt a player is a new collaboration with the Ohio State Department of Athletics and the Girls Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council, Inc. Through this program, Ohio State student-athletes will have the opportunity to become positive role models to girl scouts in over 34 counties.
Prior to the beginning of each season, there will be a meet and greet for the troops to meet their adoptive player. The first meeting will take place on September 27th on the Ohio State campus. At this meeting, troops will have the opportunity to meet their adopted player and earn requirements for the following badges.
Brownies in grades 2-3
Girls will earn the requirements towards the Eat Right, Stay Healthy Try-It (try-it not included).
Juniors in grades 4-5
Girls will earn the requirements towards the Court Sports badge (badge not included).
Cadettes in grades 6-8
Girls will earn the requirements towards the On the Court Interest Project (patch not included).
Girl Scout Night – Friday November 13, 2009
Women’s Basketball game 5 p.m. – St. John Arena
Women’s Volleyball game 7 p.m. – St. John Arena
Troops will also have the opportunity to attend Girl Scout Night on November 13. The Buckeyes will provide discounted tickets to the Women’s Volleyball and Women’s Basketball game for troops and their families. Troops will have the chance to show their support for their adopted player as well as attend the post game autograph session and participate in the following in-game experiences.
In-Game Experience – (Basketball)
• Presenting of flags (5 scouts)
• Honorary Captain (2-3 scouts)
• Ball girls (5-10 scouts)
• Game ball exchange (5-10 scouts)
• On court fan tunnels (open to all)
• Post game lay-ups (open to all)
In-Game Experience (Volleyball)
• Presenting of flags (5 scouts)
• Honorary Captain (2-3 scouts)
• Game ball exchange (6-12 scouts)
• On court fan tunnels (open to all)
*Scouts will be chosen randomly for the in-game experiences
