LiFE Sports Camp Information – Ohio State Buckeyes

Camp Information

LiFE Sports Clinics
Six sports clinics were held this year for youth and families. It was great to reconnect with staff and campers from the 2010 LiFE Sports camp!

General Information
• 4 week camp
• Youth ages 10 to 18 (nine year olds will be accepted if they turn 10 on or before August 31, 2010). Please note that 10 to 15 year olds will participate in the traditional LiFE Sports program, while youth ages 16 to 18 will have the opportunity to participate in the LiFE Sports Youth Leadership Camp (details below)
• 3 sport activities and one education activity a day
• Daily interaction with OSU Student-Athletes, students, and caring adults from the community
• Daily transportation to and from camp
• Camp activities held at Athletic and Recreational facilities on the Ohio State University Campus
• Breakfast and hot lunch provided each day
• Opportunity for FREE physical by Ohio State Athletic Trainers and Physicians

Youth Leadership Camp:
This year LiFE Sports will offer a separate LiFE Sports Youth Leadership Camp for youth ages 16 to 18 years old.

The LiFE Sports Youth Leadership Camp will take place at the same time as the traditional LiFE Sports camp. Youth registered for the Leadership Camp will act as a junior counselor for one of the younger LiFE Sports groups. They will shadow a LiFE Sports counselor and learn important leadership and work development skills.

Optional Opportunity: Youth Leaders will have the opportunity to be involved in additional camp programming prior to camp (June 8 to June 10) and after camp (July 11 and July 12). Transportation will not be provided for these dates.

Youth ages 16 to 18 who are interested in this opportunity should still complete this LiFE Sports application. Families will be contacted separately to discuss additional details.

2011 Registration

The 2011 LiFE Sports Camp is now FULL, we appreciate your interest and support. CAMPER APPLICATION

REGISTRATION: There will be a ONE DAY registration for the 2011 LiFE Sports program. Participant applications WILL NOT be accepted via fax, email, or post. Participant applications must be turned in at the designated sites (Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza or Boys and Girls Club of Columbus). Campers do not have to be present when applications are turned in to LiFE Sports staff. Anyone can bring the completed applications (neighbor, grandparent, parent, etc), but the applications must be turned in that day.

PHYSICALS: In addition, all campers must have a physical exam to participate in camp. FREE physicals will be available at Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza. Campers may also bring documentation that they have had a physical when they turn in their participant application to either location. Applications WILL NOT be accepted without a physical.

Why: To ensure that the LiFE Sport staff receives all the documentation required for camp participation.

Attendance Policy
Campers will be allowed three unexcused absences over the course of the camp. Once a camper has two absences, his/her guardian will be contacted to inform them of the absences. If the camper has one more absence after that (a total of three unexcused absences), his/her guardian will be informed that the camper is no longer to return to camp. This policy is being put into place to make sure that all campers are committed to the program. Given the limited amount of space in the program, we want to make sure that all of the campers who enroll in camp really want to be there. Our concern is that we needlessly register children who have no intention of attending, and therefore deny others a chance to attend.
