OSU Lantern – More than a thousand people came to Longaberger Alumni House Monday to pay their final respects to Stefanie Spielman. A public memorial service was held from 1 to 8 p.m. in honor of the Columbus cancer research champion.

Drake converts one of its few scoring chances to end Ohio State’s season
The Columbus Dispatch Ohio State has had luck on its side in the past month. It created some with timely goals in recent games and got help from other teams to win the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships. But the good fortune disappeared yesterday. Drake converted one of its few scoring chances when Luke Gorczyca’s header with 3 minutes, 4 seconds remaining in overtime gave the Bulldogs (15-6-2) a 1-0 win in an NCAA Tournament second-round game at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Columbus Dispatch After Evan Turner had 10 turnovers against North Carolina on the New York stage, coach Thad Matta was asked if the experiment of playing Turner at point guard was over. Some didn’t bother to ask and just pronounced it as such. “That’s probably why I don’t read or listen to anything,” the Ohio State men’s basketball coach said yesterday with a smile.

OSU Lantern – The Big Ten announced its selections for its all-conference teams Monday night. Two Buckeyes earned first-team honors, four earned second-team honors and three earned honorable mention. Titles have been enough, but this year Jim Tressel is Big Ten’s best coach
Cleveland Plain Dealer In nine seasons at Ohio State, Jim Tressel has won 93 games, eight Michigan games, six Big Ten titles and four bowl games, but he’s never won Big Ten Coach of the Year. Monday, when the Big Ten announces its annual awards as part of a Big Ten Network show that begins at 8 p.m., it’s doubtful that will change.

Win makes fans’ taunts irrelevant to Boren
The Columbus Dispatch As Justin Boren left the field and headed up the ramp toward the locker room after Ohio State’s 21-10 win yesterday, a Michigan fan was leaning on a rail looking for him. The fan’s face was brake-lights red. He snorted and steamed and unleashed a firestorm of obscenities at the former Wolverines player with an intensity that was downright scary. This wasn’t Ohio State vs. Michigan, football’s greatest rivalry. This was definitely something else.
Misdirection mistake worked out
The Columbus Dispatch Brandon Saine made the run and Jim Cordle the key block on a 29-yard touchdown play for Ohio State in the second quarter against Michigan yesterday. But credit should also go to Matt Esselstein. Esselstein is an aeronautical and astronautical engineering major who is also a student manager for the Buckeyes. His job is to write the number of the play on a whiteboard and flash it to the offense once the formation has been relayed.

My, how things have changed in The Game
The Columbus Dispatch Legendary Michigan coach Fielding Yost is standing near the east gate of Ferry Field in Ann Arbor shortly after Ohio State has beaten Michigan for the first time, in 1919. He already has made his famous foray into the OSU locker room to personally congratulate Chic Harley for his fine performance in the Buckeyes’ 13-3 victory — the first time Yost has ever done that with any opposing player — and he is content in the knowledge that what he had just witnessed was an aberration.
