Technical and philosophical improvements to offer more features in 2008
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The video board located in the south end of Ohio Stadium has always been utilized to add to the game day experience for fans. It will hold the same role in 2008, but fans can look forward to several enhancements and alterations from past seasons.
The first noticeable difference will be a return to the use of the full 90-feet x 30-feet screen display of game action. In past seasons, the video board presentation was divided between animation and video, but this year it will hold a full-screen view for the better part of game day. The full board was officially reintroduced at the 2008 Spring Game in April.
Fans also will enjoy a change in Ohio Stadium’s replay policy, offering more video board replays than in any previous season. In accordance with Big Ten rules, the replays may be rerun in slow-motion at 75 percent speed. Fans also can look for multiple showings of certain plays.
In addition, Ohio Stadium patrons will see the full-screen replays in enhanced clarity as new processing technologies have been incorporated to up the resolution on the now eight-year old video board.
Other video board features to look for in 2008 include:
Pregame
Each player on the 2008 squad introducing themselves to the fans
A weekly feature story on Ohio State student-athletes or teams
A re-air of Big Ten Network’s Friday Night Tailgate Show
Ohio State University’s IMIX program, a fast-paced television magazine show that airs on WOSU-TV and the Big Ten Network
A brand new video team introduction that incorporates a polished combination of past and present audio and visual features
