COLUMBUS, Ohio — Head coach Jim Tressel met with the Columbus media Monday to discuss his new book, The Winners Manual, which releases Tuesday, July 15. Co-written with Chris Fabry, The Winners Manual will provide a rare glimpse into the mind of one of the most respected coaches in college football history and into the huddle of one of the most successful football programs of all time.
Coach Tressel will share never-before-published anecdotes about players and games from throughout his storied coaching career at Ohio State and Youngstown State, as well as fundamental lessons he has been imparting to his players and coaching staffs for the past 20 years.
“If we help one person who once thought they were struggling then we’ve won,” Tressel said. “I have hundreds of books that have made an impact on me and I hope this book can have a similar effect on others.
“I was trained to teach, but the subject I like is football. Coaches are teachers 24/7. We are responsible for our kids just as teachers are. It is what we do — we teach.
Tressel begins his book signing tour tomorrow in Ridgewood, N.J. before returning to Columbus Wednesday. On Thursday he will be in Youngstown, Copley and Westlake before his last signing at the Barnes & Noble in Pickerington Saturday morning.
“I love seeing Ohio State fans and I look forward to hearing their stories,” Tressel said. “On the tour, we’ll travel to three places in Ohio where I think I’ll get that experience.”
All of coach Tressel’s proceeds will benefit the William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library Renovation Fund on the Ohio State campus.
