Men’s Basketball: Koufos Enters 2008 NBA Draft – Ohio State Buckeyes

Freshman center retains option to return to Ohio State
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kosta Koufos, a 7-foot freshman center on the Ohio State men’s basketball team, will notify the National Basketball Association of his intentions to enter the 2008 NBA Draft. The Canton, Ohio, native will not immediately sign with an agent, leaving open the possibility of a return to the Buckeyes for his sophomore season in 2008-09.
Koufos averaged 14.4 points a game as a rookie for the 24-13 Buckeyes with 6.7 rebounds a game and a team-high 67 blocks. He averaged 18.2 points over the final five games of the season while Ohio State made its run to the 2008 National Invitation Tournament title.
His efforts in wins over Mississippi and Massachusetts in the NIT semifinals and finals in New York led to his being named the event MVP.
