Freshman forward answered fans’ questions online Wednesday
COLUMBUS, Ohio Sergio Somma, a freshman forward on the Ohio State men’s hockey team, answered fans’ questions during a live online chat Wednesday. Read a full transcript of his chat below.
Ohio State faces Nebraska-Omaha on the road at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Omaha, Neb., for one of two remaining two-game away series on the 2007-08 regular-season schedule. Then, the Buckeyes welcome Northern Michigan to Columbus at 7:05 p.m. Feb. 15-16 before heading to Notre Dame Feb. 22-23. The regular-season ends with a home-and-home series between the Buckeyes and Miami RedHawks. Game one will be held in Columbus at 7:05 p.m. Feb. 26 with game two following in Oxford, Ohio, at 7:35 p.m. Feb. 29.
Somma, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., has skated in all 30 Buckeye games in his rookie season, tallying 13 points on seven goals.

What was your favorite experience during the team’s trip to Alaska?

We went to an ice hotel which was neat. Everything was made of ice and the beds had some kind of animal hide on it. The scenery was cool because it was different than what I was used to.

|
It’s a lot of fun because sports are a big deal here. It’s nice to be a part of that. Plus, my mom, uncle and grandma are OhioState alums.

What was the most difficult thing to get used to about college life?

When I was playing juniors for two years, I wasn’t going to school. Getting back to class and taking tests was difficult at first.

I can make a cloverleaf and fold my tongue – I guess not everyone can do that.

I miss just being at home and my family. I miss the whole Pittsburgh mentality.

Albert and Goebel are both really talented hockey players and good guys. It’s just fun to play with them.

There are a couple guys that chirp all the time. (John) Dingle is a big jokester and (Kyle) Hood’s a goofy guy who thinks he’s funny.

Yes, it is. My mom and dad run a sports bar in Pittsburgh. My dad started a pizza shop in 1979 and has been making pizza since.
