I would add more games to make it more like the pros because that’s the next level we are getting ready for. Also, I think we should wear visors because that’s what is worn in the next step up.

How did you choose Family Resource Management as your major?

At first I wanted to go into architecture but there’s no way to do it with my hockey schedule. I went into that because it’s like a business degree and you can do a lot with it. I might be a sports agent one day.

What’s your typical routine before games?

|
I do the same thing every game. I take a pregame nap after our team meal and get to the rink two hours before the game.

Now at the end of your college career, how would you describe your time at OhioState? What’s your best memory?

|
I would say the best memory I had was freshman year playing in the championship at Joe Louis Arena and going on to the NCAA tournament.

What’s the team looking at this weekend against Northern Michigan? Have you played with any of the guys before?

No, I haven’t played with any of the guys before. They just swept MichiganState so we need to have a good week in practice and focus on the things our team needs to do to have a good weekend.

If you didn’t play hockey, what other sport would you play at OhioState?

|
I would probably play baseball. I played travel baseball going up and my dad played college baseball at Eastern Michigan. I was a pitcher and outfielder.

What would you say is the hardest thing about being a defenseman in hockey? How does a defender improve as a player?

|
The hardest thing is playing in the defensive zone against high skilled players. To get better, you just work on the little things everyday in practice.

What was your transition like from playing in the U.S. development program to playing at OSU?

|
Playing in the U.S. Development Program was the best experience of my life because I got to travel to Europe five times and play international competition. It developed me quickly so I came into college on time.

What’s next for you after OhioState? Will we still be seeing you play hockey?

|
Yes, I plan on playing pro hockey after my season is done with. After I’m done at OhioState, if everything works out, I’ll hopefully be playing in the AHL as I prepare to play in the NHL.

How does postseason work in college hockey? Will the Bucks see any action after the end of the regular season?

Yes, every team makes the first round. We’ll play in the first round and if we win we’ll go on from there. The Top 4 teams in the league get byes from the first round.

I started playing when I was five. My dad just got me into it because one of his friends suggested getting me started early.

Probably Michigan because it’s my hometown and I have a lot of good buddies on the team so it’s a lot of fun. Plus, they are always one of the nation’s top teams.

I came on my visit with Tom Fritsche and we had a good time with the guys on the team. Plus, because of the Schott – the facilities are pretty amazing.
