John Cooper will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame
Former Ohio State football head coach John Cooper (1988-2000) was honored at halftime of Ohio State’s game vs. Penn State at Ohio Stadium. Cooper, who totaled 111 wins and three Big Ten championships in his 13 seasons leading the Buckeyes, will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame later this year.
Cooper was joined at midfield by Archie Griffin, college football’s only two-time Heisman Trophy winner and current Alumni Assoc. President, and Gene Smith, Ohio State Director of Athletics and University Vice President.
Overall, Cooper went 111-43-4 for a .715 winning percentage with the Scarlet and Gray. Ohio State finished in the national Top 10 five times, including No. 2 rankings in 1996 and 1998. The Buckeyes won the Rose Bowl in the ’96 season and the Sugar Bowl in ’98.
