Director of Football Operations in second stint at Ohio State
Bob Tucker will serve as honorary captain for Ohio State in its gameat Michigan State Satuday at 3:30 p.m. in Spartan Stadium. He is in his eighth year as director of football operations at Ohio State. He accompanied head coach Jim Tressel to Columbus from Youngstown State.
This is Tucker’s second tour of duty with the Buckeyes. He was a member of Earle Bruce’s Ohio State staff from 1979 through 1984, serving first as outside linebackers coach (1979-81) and later as defensive coordinator (1982-84). While at Ohio State under Bruce, the Buckeyes won three Big Ten championships and played in six bowl games, including two Rose Bowls (1979, ’84).
A native of Sandusky, Ohio, Tucker is a 1965 graduate of the College of Wooster; he served as head coach at his alma mater from 1985-97. He received a master’s degree from Penn State in 1967. His coaching career has also included stops at Youngstown State, Iowa State, Wichita State and Massillon (Ohio) High School.
Bob and his wife, Lynn, a lifelong educator, have three children: Diana, Michelle (both teachers) and Scott, a 2002 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, currently stationed in Germany.
