Football: Robiskie, Wells Nominees for Cleveland Sports Collegiate Award – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football players Brian Robiskie and Chris Wells are candidates for the Collegiate Athlete of the Year Award at the 2008 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards Thursday. The sold-out event is being held at the Cleveland Renaissance Hotel.
Robiskie, a 2007 Academic All-American and native of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, near Cleveland, and Wells, a first-team All-Big Ten running back from Akron, Ohio, are two of the three candidates for collegiate athlete of the year. Michelle Sikes, who competes in track & field at Wake Forest, is the third. She attended Lakewood High School near Cleveland.
Robiskie led the Buckeyes in receiving in 2007, hauling in 55 passes for 935 yards and 11 touchdowns. Wells became the fourth Buckeye all-time to surpass 1,600 yards in a season, setting a sophomore rushing mark of 1,609 yards on 274 carries and scoring 15 times.
Basketball Hall of Famer Bill Walton will host the ceremony, which is now in its eighth year. The awards honor the top high school, collegiate, amateur and professional athletes in the area. Proceeds from the event benefit the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.
