Men’s Basketball: Buckeyes Hold Off Illinois, 64-58 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State returned home Tuesday and got back into the win column with a 64-58 victory over Illinois in Value City Arena. David Lighty led the Buckeyes with 16 points, four rebounds and four assists.
The win improved Ohio State to 13-6 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten. The Illini dropped to 9-11 and 1-6 in the league.
Ohio State led by as many as 15 points midway through the second half, but watched Illinois rally to within three in the late moments. The Buckeyes struggled at the free throw line down the stretch, but Lighty hustled for an offensive rebound of a Kosta Koufos missed free throw to help seal the game.
Evan Turner scored 14 points and Koufos added 12. Jamar Butler netted seven points and led the Buckeyes with seven rebounds.
