Jim Heacock, defensive coordinator
On replacing Lawrence Wilson, defensive end
“Some guys are going to have a chance to step up. We just need to make sure that we get our best four linemen on the field.”
On who might start for Wilson
“Well, it could be Robert (Rose) or Cameron (Heyward). They are both going to get a chance this weekend and they are really excited about it.”
Dick Tressel, running backs coach
On Chris Wells, running back
“Wells came into the game trying to do a little too much. Beanie took more responsibility then he probably should have. Not all of the mistakes were on him, they were more team mistakes.”
On the Akron defense
“Akron runs the 3-3-5 defense and that gives you certain advantages and some disadvantages. We just have to be able to find the weakness and exploit them whether that is with the pass or the run.”
Luke Fickell, co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach
On his time at Akron
“All of the guys that play up there put in the same amount of time that we do down here. Most of these guys have played each other before (in high school). They should have a pretty good idea of what they are going to do.”
On the Akron game
“I don’t have to remind the guys that you always have to give everything. This is a great opportunity for them to play in a great atmosphere.”
