Atlanta – The No. 1-ranked Ohio State men’s basketball team (34-3) prepared Friday for its 2007 NCAA Tournament National Semifinal game at 6:07 p.m. Saturday vs. Georgetown (30-6) at the Georgia Dome. The Buckeyes started the day with a morning practice at Georgia State University. Then, the team traveled to the Georgia Dome to meet with national media and hold an open workout.
The Buckeyes drilled at the Georgia State Sports Arena for approximately an hour and a half. On Thursday, the arena played host to the 2007 College Basketball Slam Dunk and 3-point Shootout, televised on ESPN.
After the closed practice, Ohio State made the short drive to the Georgia Dome where players and coaches conducted interviews with hundreds of media members. Head coach Thad Matta, senior Ron Lewis and junior Jamar Butler attended the formal press conference, while the remainder of the team was available for interviews in the open locker room.
Following interviews, thousands of fans welcomed the Buckeyes to the Georgia Dome floor for a 50-minute open practice session. The Buckeyes went through shooting drills and got acclimated to the Georgia Dome setting. Former Buckeye standouts Jim Jackson (guard, 1990-92) and Mark Baker (guard, 1990-92), along with Clark Kellogg, a Buckeye from 1980-82 and current CBS analyst, were in the audience.
