Erin Keys, Tessa Bonhomme and Amber Bowman Recognized by USCHO – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three members of the Ohio State women’s hockey team received USCHO awards, the U.S. College Hockey Online site announced Thursday. Junior forward Erin Keys was named the Most Improved Player in the nation, while the defensive pair of Tessa Bonhomme and Amber Bowman earned Third Team All-USCHO honors. It is the first seasonal recognition by USCHO for all three Buckeyes.
Keys, a native of St. Paul, Minn., entered 2006-07 with a total of 23 points in her first two seasons. This year she led Ohio State in scoring with 48 points, the second most by a Buckeye in a single season. She also had a team-high 22 goals and led the Western Collegiate Hockey Association with 12 power play goals. She finished third in scoring in league games with an average of 1.39 points per game (39 points in 28 games). Keys was named USCHO Player of the Week once this season and earned Second Team All-WCHA honors.
Bonhomme, a junior co-captain from Sudbury, Ontario, returned to the Buckeyes after a redshirt season with the Canadian National Centralization Program to be one of the top scoring defensemen in the nation and become a Top 10 finalist for the 2007 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. She ranked fourth in the country in defenseman scoring with 1.09 points per game, and her 14 goals were the third-highest by a blueliner. She totaled 36 points in 33 games to rank fourth on the team in scoring. Bonhomme also was named First Team All-WCHA.
Bowman, a senior co-captain from Innisfil, Ontario, finished second on the team in scoring for the second year in a row with 38 points. Her 29 assists led the team and were the second most by a blueliner in the nation. She finished fifth overall in NCAA defenseman scoring with 1.03 points per game. This season, Bowman became Ohio State’s all-time leader in points by a defenseman, concluding her career with 102 points. She is just the third Buckeye to surpass the 100-point milestone. Bowman also earned Second Team All-WCHA honors.
