McDonald’s® Restaurants of Central Ohio Becomes Official Sponsor of Ohio State Athletics – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, OH – McDonald’s Restaurants of Central Ohio today announced that it will become the exclusive Quick Service Restaurant sponsor for Ohio State University’s Athletics program, including football, hockey and men’s and women’s basketball beginning July 1, 2007. The sponsorship will include branding in the Jerome Schottenstein Center and Ohio Stadium, as well as reciprocal promotional opportunities.
“We are thrilled to be supporting Ohio State University,” said Shirley Rogers-Reece, vice president and general manager, McDonald’s Ohio Region. “McDonald’s has long been committed to sports programs on every level from tee-ball teams to the McDonald’s All-American Game® and this alliance truly demonstrates the commitment of both McDonald’s and Ohio State University coming together to further support athletics in the central Ohio community.”
And, for the first time in the history of Ohio State, tickets to the OSU Spring Game on April 21, at 1 p.m. will be sold in a venue outside of the University. Participating McDonald’s restaurants throughout central Ohio will be selling game tickets beginning Thursday, March 15, while supplies last, for the face value price of $5, with $1 from every ticket sold benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Ohio.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. RMHC of Central Ohio operates the Ronald McDonald House in Columbus which provides a home-away-from-home for families with seriously ill children staying and receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.
“McDonald’s is a long-time supporter of college athletics. We are excited to have them as a sponsor of our athletics program and look forward to a great long-term partnership,” said Gene Smith, University athletic director. “And, the opportunity for the University to sell tickets to the Spring Game through 127 local McDonald’s restaurants is a win-win, especially when it will help raise funds for the Ronald McDonald Charities of central Ohio.”
