10 Women’s Soccer Players Named to Academic All-Big Ten Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio Members of the Ohio State women’s soccer team performed on the field and in the classroom in 2007. This year’s team, in addition to advancing to the championship game of the Big Ten Conference tournament and earning its fourth invitation to the NCAA soccer championships, placed 10 of its student-athletes on the Big Ten Conference’s fall Academic All-Big Ten team.
All three of the team’s captains seniors Amanda Ball, Lara Dickenmann and Keiana Mitchell were honored with Dickenmann, an international business major, and Mitchell, a history major, making the team for the third time in their careers, respectively. Ball, a psychology major, was honored for the second time.
“I am pleased for all of our student-athletes who perform well enough in the classroom to be so honored by the Big Ten Conference,” Lori Walker, Ohio State head coach, said. “And I am especially proud that we have captains on our team who, by their deeds in the classroom, display the hard work and the effort needed to be a champion on and off the field at this level.”
In addition to Dickenmann and Mitchell, another senior Kate Linehan was honored for the third time in her career by the Big Ten.
The 10 women’s soccer players are among 74 Ohio State student-athlete honored by the Big Ten for academics this fall. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten honors, student-athletes must be a letterwinner in at least their second year and carry a grade-point-average of 3.0 or better.
