On what it is like to play a midseason nonconference game
“We want to treat it the same way we treat every game. If we lose, we won’t have the opportunity to play in the championship game. We want to go undefeated this season. When we start thinking Kent State is a second-tier team, we start hurting ourselves and that is not what we want to do.”

“We are where I expected we would be. We keep growing and the passing game keeps getting better. We still need to work on consistency and focus on scoring for the team.”

“This year, we are not focused on just one guy. The running backs quarterbacks and wide receivers all play an important role and are on the same page. We want to spread the ball around and I think that is what we are doing so far. Personally, Todd (Boeckman) and I are on the same page and are constantly getting better together. Hopefully we’ll get to the point where we make the big plays more often.”
On the long road trip and coming back home
“For myself, I catch myself dragging when we first get back. After catching up on sleep and relaxing, it is usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays that I really start to get going again. It will be nice to get back to the Shoe again and play at home for a couple of weeks. It will be a good break from the travel for the team.”

“I didn’t expect to see this much action so soon. I really thought it would be more on special teams than anything, but I guess the coaches have liked how I fit in. I really think I can help our defense out.”

“We don’t let up at all defensively. We’re going to take every game seriously and use each game to improve and work on our game. If we play like we’re supposed to, we’ll win games.”

“It’s been a great opportunity for me to come in and contribute like I have. I remember the coaches talking about running a few different looks out there and that I was involved in some of them. I just have to keep my head down and keep working on my game.”
