“He’s further along than we thought. We’re very happy with him as far as his development. One of the things I’m very happy with is the way his mind is progressing. He’s really starting to understand things and anticipate things. His understanding of the offense is further along than I anticipated.”

“He’s done a really fine job of it. I don’t know off hand, but I think he has only missed a couple. His mental aspect is really improving and has surprised me a little bit. Like I said, he’s further along than we thought he would be.”

“He’s a little bit like Teddy (Ginn Jr.) and “Gonzo” (Anthony Gonzales) put together. Gonzo ran great routes, but no one knew how fast Gonzo was. Gonzo ran great routes and he made people miss. He looks like he’s got great speed. He is very elusive and (Dustin) Keller is the same way. Keller is very elusive. Every time you see him catch the ball, he’s doing something extra for yards after catch, so our tackling is going to be key.”
On the defensive backs play so far this season
“I think we’re better. I think we still have a long way to go. We still have young guys that need to understand things and get football smart, keep doing the things we need to do to get better. We’re not there yet by any means, but they’re doing the things we’re asking them to do and they’re trying and give great effort.”
On Kurt Coleman and Malcolm Jenkins taking on different roles in the defensive backfield
“I think they’ve handled it pretty well. Kurt has stepped in for the first time. He’s doing a real good job. Malcolm we have at corner and safety. He’s taking that role on very well. So, like I said, we’re pleased, but it’s just like anything and we need to keep improving.”
