Ohio State Football Award Winners
Outstanding play against MichiganState recognized
COLUMBUS, Ohio The OhioState football coaching staff has selected its weekly award winners for outstanding play in the 24-17 win over MichiganState Saturday.
Running back Chris “Beanie” Wells was selected as offensive player of the week, and defensive back Malcolm Jenkins earned the Buckeyes’ defensive player of the week award. Shaun Lane was recognized as the special units player of the week by OhioState.
Scout team champions were: Offense: Dan Herron; Defense: Chris Rietschlin; Special Units: Dan Herron. The “Attack Force” award went to lineman Vernon Gholston. Kirk Barton won the Jim Parker lineman award. The Jack Tatum Hit of the Week will be selected from among two contenders by team vote at Tuesday’s meeting.
No. 1 Ohio State (8-0) visits No. 22 Penn State (6-2) Saturday at 8:00 p.m. for a Big Ten contest that will be televised by ABC. ESPN GameDay will also be broadcasting on-site from that game.
