It’s not how we start but how we finish the season and we need to continue to get better and play well. We now have a target on our back and it makes us raise our game and want to show everyone that we are a good team.”

“I keep gaining experience and that helps me continue to improve. The more time I get, the more comfortable I am with my game. As the season progresses, the coaches and the team are gaining more confidence in me and that helps me and my confidence in passing game.”
On Michigan State’s struggles against the pass
“I’ve been watching the tape but haven’t seen too much of that. They are a good team. Both the coaches and the team know us well. Their secondary is fast and the frontline is strong so it will definitely be a challenge.”
On what needs to be improved for the remaining games
“One thing that stood out for us against Kent State is our rushing game. We need to be even more aggressive. We need to also read the defense better and take advantage of what they are more focused on. If it is the pass, we need to run more and if it is the rush, we need to throw more.”

“They’re hard to stop. They have great running backs and big offensive lineman. We have to play great defense and execute as well as we have been doing the last couple of weeks.”

“With this line we’re going to face, we better be prepared. This is probably the biggest line we’ve seen all year and they’re quick off the ball. If we want to have success we must control the line of scrimmage.”
On the No. 1 ranking
“I think it’s a nod to OSU. Coach Tressel recruits very well and we just seem to reload. We have great athletes on our bench, but even better athletes playing. Coach has surrounded this program with great people also, not just great athletes.”
On being viewed as an underdog nationally
“It’s a motivating force for us. At the same time, we have to keep a level head and stay focused on Michigan State. I was surprised by how quickly we reached the top, but to stay there we have to keep getting better from week to week.”
