Jim Tressel, Ohio State Head Coach
On the anticipation of the Texas game
“We are excited. It’s a wonderful opportunity. We had a good hard training camp and have played a real game. Everyone is anxious, nervous and we want to see how they measure up.”
On comparing the hype surrounding the Texas game to a bowl game
“This is so much different because it is so early in the season. We are still trying to feel the way we line up, so it’s a bit different. At the end of the year, practices get shorter and we’ve been through more things”
On rotating players throughout the game
“We want to have 57 players in the game by the first quarter. There are many guys who deserve an opportunity. We are only taking 70, so we better use most of them.”
On their growth since the Northern Illinois game
“Our guys have improved from last week. We have good teachers and good coaches who help our guys understand better. It was a good week so we’ll see if it pays off.”
On his thoughts about the Texas team
“I don’t look for a great change in what they did (last year). They are well balanced. The better you are, you sure as well are more focused. They have good coaches and good players. They have the ability to mix up and rotate players so you never get a beat of where they are. I’m impressed.”
On the hot Texas weather
“As soon as you get hit a couple times, you don’t remember the heat. I just hope I can see the difference between the burnt orange and red in the stands. Our fans always find a way. People are excited and we are too.”
