COLUMBUS, Ohio – Allan Johnson, Ohio State’s director of football strength and conditioning, has announced his resignation to pursue other career opportunities. Johnson, whose resignation takes effect Aug. 31, has been a member of the Ohio State staff since the summer of 2001.
“I’ve really enjoyed my years here at Ohio State,” Johnson said. “I want to thank Coach (Jim) Tressel for the opportunity to be part of this program the past five seasons. The 2002 National Championship and three BCS games are something I will never forget. I would also like to thank all the great people in the Ohio State athletics department.
“At this point in my career, though, I would like the chance to pursue other opportunities, including getting into athletic administration, motivational speaking and consulting.”
“I would like to thank Al for his dedicated service to our program over the last five seasons,” said Tressel. “It was obvious to me any time we took the field we were the best conditioned team out there. Much of the credit for our success over the past five seasons goes to Al Johnson and his staff.”
Tressel said a national search will begin immediately for Johnson’s successor.
