Ohio State Tops First BCS Poll – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio: Ohio State holds down the top spot in the first Bowl Championship Series standings of the year. The unbeaten Buckeyes are No. 1 with an average of 0.9731 points. Ohio State is the first Big Ten Conference team to sit atop the initial BCS standings.
“We appreciate the recognition of our difficult schedule, but we are fully aware that the final poll is the only one that matters.” Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said Sunday evening.
The University of Southern California was second in the initial rankings with a 0.9559 figure, followed by Michigan at 0.9341. Auburn (0.7478) and West Virginia (0.7446) round out the top five.
