Women’s Soccer Earns No. 10 Ranking in NSCAA/adidas Preseason Poll – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s soccer team earned its second Top 25 ranking in as many weeks when the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA/adidas) preseason poll ranked the Buckeyes No. 10. Ohio State, which held down the No. 12 spot in the SoocerBuzz.com preseason poll last week, added the Michigan Hawks club team to its preseason schedule for a scrimmage, slated for 6 p.m. Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Big Ten opponents Penn State, Illinois and Wisconsin also cracked the Top 25, earning the No. 8, No. 13 and No. 25 ranking, respectively.
The Scarlet and Gray played its first of a two-game preseason slate against Wake Forest Monday night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes dropped a 3-1 decision to the Demon Deacons and forward Carleta Arbulu (So., Grover Beach, Calif./Arroyo Grande) recorded Ohio State’s lone goal on a shot from inside the 18-yard box. Midfielder Lara Dickenmann (So., Kries, Switzerland/Sursee) was credited with the assist.
Ohio State officially commences the regular season at 4 p.m. at Kent State Aug. 26 with its first home game against Kentucky scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 11.
