COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State football team will hold a free one-day football camp for eighth-graders from the Columbus Public Schools Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Jim Tressel, Ohio State football head coach, and Dr. Gene Harris, Columbus Public Schools Superintendent, will welcome the campers to campus.
Ohio State football players will work with the campers on offensive and defensive skills as well as techniques during the six-hour camp. The morning session will consist of six offensive drill stations and the afternoon session will focus on defensive drills.
Officials from 18 Columbus Public Middle Schools helped screen and select approximately 350 eighth-graders who were then eligible to take part in free camp.
The goals of the camp are to motivate and inspire middle school students while providing a teaching experience for the Buckeye players.
Additionally, Ohio State football coaches will conduct a morning clinic for 65 National Football Foundation Youth League coaches.
