Big Ten Names 45 Buckeyes Among Winter Academic All-Conference Selections – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its Academic All-Big Ten selections from its seven winter sports Thursday, and 45 Ohio State student-athletes are among the honorees from men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s gymnastics, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and wrestling.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
Three Big Ten student-athletes have maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA, including Ohio State junior women’s gymnast Emily Sineway, a health information management major from Norcross, Ga. Among the Big Ten’s winter student-athletes to earn both postseason awards and be named Academic All-Big Ten is Buckeye women’s basketball standout Jessica Davenport, a family resource management major from Columbus, Ohio.
Minnesota’s 59 Academic All-Big Ten selections in its seven sports were tops among league schools, followed by Penn State (53 honorees, seven sports), Michigan State (50 honorees, six sports), Ohio State (45 honorees, seven sports), Iowa (44 honorees, seven sports), Purdue (42 honorees, five sports), Michigan (40 honorees, seven sports), Illinois (36 honorees, six sports), Indiana (27 honorees, five sports), Wisconsin (25 honorees, five sports) and Northwestern (23 honorees, five sports).
