COLUMBUS, Ohio – ESPN officials announced today the Ohio State at Penn State football game Oct. 8 in University Park will be televised nationally in primetime, beginning either at 7:00 PM on ESPN2 or 7:45 PM on ESPN.
This will be the twenty-first meeting between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions. The series, which began in 1912 and has been continuous since 1993, is deadlocked at 10-10. Ohio State has won the last three games in the rivalry, including a 21-10 victory last year in Columbus, but Penn State has a 4-3 edge in games contested at Beaver Stadium.
The announcement by ESPN means the Buckeyes will play two regular-season night games in 2005. ABC announced last week that the Texas at Ohio State game on Sept. 10 would kickoff at 8 p.m. and be televised nationally.
The Buckeyes have an all-time record of 25-8 in night games, including a spotless 6-0 mark in Ohio Stadium.
