A Senior Day To Remember – Ohio State Buckeyes

A night you thought would never come, a night filled with emotions, a night that inevitably marked the beginning to an end of what has been the most important part of my life. You never think the day will come when you’re not waking up every day to play the game you love. Ever since I can remember volleyball has been a part of my life, and it is Ohio State that has made that part of my life unforgettable.
As some of you may know it is tradition for the seniors to give a little speech after the match. I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to say that night; a little nervous, my unplanned, capricious speech is a blur. All that was running through my mind at that moment was how I was going to thank all the people who made such a huge impact on my life. It was Jim Stone who showed us such passion for the game of volleyball it made me want to be a better player; it was Sean, Jamie, and Steve who made this experience indelible in so many ways; and of course it was my teammates who showed such amazing heart and prowess as they stood by my side every step of the way.
I didn’t quite know how I was going to react that night. Was it going to be a sob fest? I held it together well until we got to my favorite Ohio State Volleyball tradition; the Carmen Ohio. “Oh come let’s sing Ohio’s praise….tear….and songs to alma mater raise….lots of tears.” You can imagine the rest! It was at that moment when I realized that was the last time I would be singing Carmen Ohio with my Ohio State jersey, my teammates and the fans. What an amazing tradition.
“Ohio State I love you!!!!”
