Flyers Sign Former Buckeye Eric Meloche – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Four-time Ohio State letterwinner Eric Meloche, who played for the Buckeyes from 1997-00, signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers, the team announced. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Meloche, a 1996 draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins, spent the last four seasons in the Penguins system. Last year, he played in 25 games with Pittsburgh and saw action in 56 regular-season games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the club’s American Hockey League affliliate. With the NHL team, Meloche posted 3-7-10 totals. In the AHL, he recorded 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points in 56 regular season games. In the playoffs, Meloche had 15 points, including nine goals, in 23 games.
In his career, Meloche has played in 61 NHL games, scoring eight goals and adding nine assists.
The Rosemere, Quebec, native played in 152 games for the Buckeyes in his career. He posted 69-60-129 totals in his career to rank tied for 31st in OSU history.
Former Buckeye R.J. Umberger (2001-03) signed a free-agent contract with the Flyers earlier this summer.
