Chat With Greg Bice and Tony Russo – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State men’s lacrosse seniors Greg Bice and Tony Russo were available to answer questions at 11 a.m. Thursday during a live chat on ohiostatebuckeyes.com. Russo, the 2003 GWLL Player of the Year and an Honorable Mention USILA All-American, is in his fourth year as the Buckeyes’ starting goalie. He is third in the country in goals-against average this season and is just 17 saves shy of tying the all-time OSU record for career saves. Bice, a four-year starter on defense, is a two-time All-GWLL First Team honoree and earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades last season. The Buckeyes close out their home regular-season slate this weekend with two games. The No. 8 Buckeyes (9-2, 2-0 GWLL) puts their eight-game winning streak on the line when they play host to Air Force (3-6, 1-2 GWLL) at 4 p.m. Friday and Denver (7-3, 2-1 GWLL) at 1 p.m. Sunday in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. |

| Greg: We’ve been running a man to man defense, we also have zone defenses but have not had to use them yet. | ||
| John James (Baltimore): Have you ever seen the movie Rudy? If so, does it inspire you to go out and beat Notre Dame? | ||
| Tony: well since we already played notre dame and beat them, i’ll have to say that we were inspired. | ||
| Mike (Baltimore): Is it true that Michael Dudikoff, is doing another American Ninja Movie that is going to come out next summer? | ||
| Greg: yes, absolutely! he has been a great inspiration to me!!! | ||

| Tony: I love the game because i have so much fun playing. i think that is what it is all about. having fun!!! | ||

| Greg: I already have a job in North Carolina being an associate engineer. | ||

| Greg: An old teammate of mine named bryan mulford once taught me that the hit comes first, then the score. | ||
| Emily, Grandview Heights: What is your biggest accomplishment that you have achieved while playing lacrosse at Ohio State? | ||
| Greg: my biggest accomplishment is making the NCAA tournament and winning our conference last year. | ||
| Kevin (Columbus, OH): Greg, the welding engineering major, what is a harder phase of structural steel martinsite, ferrite, ascicular ferrite, austenite, or pearlite | ||
| Greg: Martinsite do the shearing that occurs during cooling | ||

| Jason Carey, Charlotte, NC: As a former OSU lax player, I’m always proud to say I played for the Scarlet and Gray, but even more so now that the team has reached its highest level of success ever. Since you’ve been there for a majority of the resurgence, what do you attribute that to? Talent? Coaching? Desire and hard work? A mix of the above? | Tony: I think it has to do with a little bit of everything. we have the best coaching staff in the country and have always pride ourselves as a hard working team. | ||

| Greg: Yes, we have a great fan base this year and they really help fire us up for the big games! | ||

| Tony: It is funny you ask. Bice and i were just talking about how much we miss mike dutter. he rules!!! | ||

| Aaron (Rochester, New York): I was at the game on Saturday with Hobart. I’ve been going to Hobart games for the past twenty years, and that comeback by Ohio State was one of the Best ever. Just curious, what did coach Breshci say to the team at half time? | ||
| Greg: It was weird, coach breschi was really calm and relaxed even when we were down. he kept reminding us to just keep having fun and playing our game. | ||
| Meat (Columbus): Tony, you attribute alot of your success in the goal to the defense in front of you. Have you ever considered rewarding these guys for their hard work? Maybe taking them out to dinner or buying them watches? | ||
| Tony: I actually take them out to dinner alot. especially Matt Cafferelli. | ||

| Greg: we both have our own routines before the game. i like to relax and clear my mind, and visualize. tony likes to sleep in the goal before every game | ||

| Tony: bice and i made china buffet a pregame meal our sophomore year. but since then it has been outlawed by coach stalfort. | ||

| Tony: i had a great geometry teacher in high school named roy lobdell who taught me alot about life and lax. | ||

| Greg: they are both great goalies. reeves was my stellar high school goalie and is arguably the best goalie in D-III. | ||

| Tony: I believe that thinking too much can cause a problem for goalies. so i try to keep it simple and not think too much, and just have fun. | ||

| Greg: I think this years team is great. every team is unique in their own way. i think every year we try to set the bar a little higher. | ||
