Goaltender Receives Second Consecutive WHCA Player of the Week Honor – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Western Collegiate Hockey Association named Ohio State women’s ice hockey junior goaltender Melissa Glaser (Jr., Rockford, Ill.) league defensive player of the week for allowing just three goals on 62 shots as the Buckeyes split the weekend series with St. Cloud State (Jan. 3-4).
Glaser recorded a season-high 37 saves in a 2-1 victory Jan. 3. The Illinois native stopped 23-of-25 shots in the 2-1 loss to the Huskies Jan. 4. Glaser finished the weekend with a .952 save percentage and a 1.51 goals-against average.
Glaser has a 6-6-1 overall record and a 4-5-0 record in WCHA action. So far this season, she has posted a .917 save percentage and a 2.46 goals-against average.
The award marks Glaser’s second consecutive and the Buckeyes’ fifth WCHA Player of the Week honor this season. Glaser’s first defensive player of the week honor came Dec. 15 as she stopped 58-of-59 shots to lead the Buckeyes to a 3-0 shutout and 1-1 tie against the Northeastern Huskies Dec. 12-13 in Boston.
Ohio State returns to action Jan. 11 as the Buckeyes play host to Quinnipiac at 7:05 p.m. at the OSU Ice Rink in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State is 9-6-1 overall and 6-6-0 in the WCHA this season.
