Postgame Quotes
Ohio State head coach John Markell
On the game
“It was nice to see a win like this tonight. I want to congratulate Scott May on his 100th career point. Bryce Anderson has been working hard all season. It was great to see him score his first goal.”
On the game Saturday
“The job is not done. The second night the Lakers always kick it into gear. They will be a different team tomorrow. We know it is a 120-minute weekend and we have to be prepared to play with tempo.”
Ohio State senior goalie Mike Betz
On the game
“There were one or two tough saves but tonight I just wanted to stay focused and keep things clean. It was only a matter of time before we scored the way we were pouring on the shots. It was back to simple saves and being consistent.
“You have to give credit to Lake Superior. The bussed down here for 10 hours and gave it a great effort. They hung around until 10 minutes in the second and they will be ready to go tomorrow night.
On setting the OSU career shutout record
“It’s nice to get the record but records are made to broken. I need to get as many (records) as I can before (sophomore goalie) Dave Caruso takes over.”
Ohio State senior forward Scott May
On his 100th career point
“Milestones are something exciting. Goals give you something to shoot for in your career. After Christmas you have time to reflect on the season so I knew where I stood. I’ve been trying to chase it down for a while.
On the Buckeyes freshmen
“(Bryce Anderson) got his first goal tonight. It’s nice to see the freshmen score because we’re a veteran team. They made a 3-0 game 5-0 pretty quick.
Ohio State freshman forward Bryce Anderson
On his goal
“It definitely feels good to contribute. Milestones are goals you have to shoot for and now I’m 96 away from 100 points.”
