Hawk Named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio: Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk has been selected as the Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week following the Buckeyes’ 20-0 shutout of Northwestern this past Saturday.
Hawk collected a career-high 13 tackles in the win over the Wildcats, which stretched Ohio State’s winning streak to 19 games. The 6-2, 230-pound sophomore also had two tackles-for-loss and a pass broken up.
After five games, Hawk, a native of Centerville, Ohio, leads the unbeaten and third-ranked Buckeyes in tackles with 47 total stops, including a team-high 21 solos. He is also the pace setter in tackles-for-loss with 7.5 and is tied for the team lead with two interceptions. In his last two games, he has 25 tackles.
Hawk is the fourth Ohio State player to be honored by the Big Ten so far this year, joining defensive end Simon Fraser (Washington), strong safety Will Allen (San Diego State) and quarterback Craig Krenzel (N.C. State).
Hawk shares this week’s award with Michigan State’s Mike Labinjo.
