COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel and his wife, Ellen, will be in New York City Friday to ring the closing bell on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Longtime friends Mark and Stephanie Summers will join the Tressels on Wall Street. Coach Tressel and Mark Summers were college roommates at Baldwin-Wallace College.
In addition to his visit to New York, Tressel, last year’s National Coach of the Year after leading the Buckeyes to a perfect 14-0 record and the 2002 National Championship, will travel to Chicago over the Fourth of July and will sing “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during the seventh-inning stretch of a Chicago Cubs game.
“Those are two great American traditions and I am honored to be taking part in them,” said Tressel. “It is certainly exciting to be in the financial capital of the world and have an opportunity to view firsthand the New York Stock Exchange, and, as a baseball fan, I have always enjoyed the atmosphere at Wrigley Field.”
