HONOLULU — Ohio State’s Jim Tressel, who led the Buckeyes to a national championship this past season, and Maryland’s Ralph Friedgen were selected as coaches in next year’s Hula Bowl.
In just his second season, Tressel led the Buckeyes to a 14-0 record and a victory over Miami in the Fiesta Bowl for the national title.
Friedgen led the Terrapins to two straight bowl games and has compiled a 21-5 record in his two years at the school. He is the first coach in Maryland history to put together consecutive 10-win seasons.
The Hula Bowl college all-star game will be played at Maui’s War Memorial Stadium on Jan. 17.
